As we are in our Lenten season I have been reading about the healing ministry of our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ. Being a member of the Order of St. Luke the Physician, we believe that it is God’s will for us to be healed, to be sound and whole, in our spirit, soul (mind, will and emotions) and body. So I am on a quest to have this become a reality in my own life.
I think that one of the primary reasons why it is so difficult for some of us today to accept this fact stated throughout God’s Word is that we do not have the revelation of that truth. In order to walk in the health that Jesus has provided by all that He is and does, we must have the knowledge and understanding of God’s Word so that our faith can and does operate in that knowledge of His Word. In Hosea 4:6, His Word says “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” We have too many young people dying. Yet God tells us in Psalm 91:16 “ With long life will I satisfy you and show you my salvation”. God wants us to live a long, healthy and abundant life.
Jesus says in John 10:10 “The thief comes only in order to steal, kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance to the full, till it overflows”.
God has always wanted His people to be healed. God’s healing did not just start with Jesus. In the Old Testament, we read in Psalm 103:2-3, “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgives your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases”. Some parts of the body of Christ, the Church, have lost the healing ministry of God’s will. They have retained its teaching that it is God’s will for us to be saved, to have our sins forgiven and spend eternity with God. However, when it comes to healing, some of God’s people have not been taught that in the very same manner and at the same time that Jesus bore our sins He also bore our sicknesses and carried our diseases as stated in Isaiah 53:4-5.
Praise God!!! Christ’s body is returning to know the truth about God’s will concerning healing. We have ministries such as Deep River Ministries with Fr. Jack and Anna Marie Sheffield, whose Healing Center sends out witness reports of those who are miraculously healed by God. There is the Order of St. Luke the Physician that holds many healing conferences each year to pray for the sick and publishes the Sharing magazine which writes about healing experiences and also the place and time for future healing conferences. Always remember, too, that right here at St. David’s we have ministers and members who will pray faith-
fully and in confidence for your needs.
In order for us to embrace and receive all that Jesus has done for us and who we are in and through Him, we must have an understanding of His truth that is in
His Word. Take the opportunity during this Lenten time to develop a deeper relationship with your Daddy in heaven by seeing Jesus who is the expressed image of God Almighty. Jesus only spoke the words of His Father and only did the works of His Father. Please, take time to pray for understanding as you read and
study God’s Word, especially the healing narratives of Jesus found in all the Gospels and the Book of Acts.
May God bless you and show you the depth of His love just for you.
In Christ’s Love,
Carol Williams
