Last month’s article discussed the healing ministry of Jesus. This month Iwould like to write about the words that we speak, how important and powerful they are, especially when we speak God’s Words. In Matthew 12:36-37 (AMP) we read the words of Jesus, “I tell you on the day of judgement people will have to give account for every idle (inoperative, nonworking) word they speak. For by your words you will be justified and acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned and sentenced”. Whether we take our words seriously or not, our words are very important to God!!
There is a saying that we hear that states, “You are what you eat”. That say-
ing not only applies to the physical body but to the human spirit as well. It is
vital that we feed our spirit also. In order to have the God-kind of faith that
moves mountains (our circumstances, problems) we would do very well to
“read, mark, learn and inwardly digest God’s Word” as written in one of the
Collects. In John 6:63 Jesus tells us “my words are spirit and they are life” His
words that are truth give us the very life of God, His Spirit that abides in our
spirit. Are we not encouraged to understand and appropriate the truths that
are in His words?
From the very beginning God made this universe to respond to faith filled
words. God said “Light be and light was”. God and angels respond to our
faith filled words according to the Word of God. In Hebrews 1:14 we read
“Are not the angels all ministering spirits (servants) sent out in the service of
God for (the assistance) of those who are to inherit salvation”. We have in-
herited our salvation through Jesus. Our words either allow angels to assist us
or keep them from helping us. Our words are making our choices for us! God
spoke to us in Deuteronomy 30:19 “I call heaven and earth to witness this day
against you that I have set before you life and death, the blessings and the
curses; therefore choose life that you and your descendants may live.”
In Proverbs 18:21 God tells us that ”death and life are in the power of the
tongue”. The words that we say are either bringing us death and curses or life
and God’s blessings. Know the truth that is in God’s Word. He wants His best
just for you! I want to quote John Osteen, Joel Osteen’s father, who said,
”There’s a miracle in your mouth”. God has made us to be conquerors
through our Lord and Savior Jesus. May you live the life that Jesus paid in full
with His precious blood. May you always be speaking God’s Word for that
miracle in your life!!
