For this month’s article I would like to talk about what it is to have the Holy Spirit of God Almighty come into us and make His home in us. Jesus’ purpose in sending the Holy Spirit was for Him to live in us and be in us.
You may be asking yourself, “How can that be?” Well, just as God is a Trinity so are we. We have our earth suit (our body), our soul (mind, will, emotions, memories and intellect) and our spirit. We are made in the image of God. He is a spirit being, so are we.
Now there are times when we might be talking about what seems to be a lack of power and ability in our lives – – – a time when circumstances and problems seem overwhelming. Take heart, for Jesus tells us, “all things are possible to the one who be- lieves.” (Mark 9:23)
What are we to believe? Romans 10:9 says, “If you acknowledge and confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and in your heart believe that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” Our Heavenly Father planned that the believing ones
should have God Himself living in them through the indwelling Pres-
ence of the Holy Spirit. You are a Believer, nothing is impossible!
In First John 4:4 we read, “Little children, you are of God and have over- come them (the spirit forces of wickedness): because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.” Satan, the god of this world, is the “he” that is in the world. However, the “He” in us, the Holy Spirit, is greater! Jesus said the Holy Spirit
would be a Comforter, Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener and Standby.
The Holy Spirit always lifts up the Word of God and the Name of Jesus. That is why it is so vital for us to read and study the Bible. For us to live the victorious life that Jesus paid such a high price for us to have, we must know who we are and what we have in and through Christ Jesus.
In John 15:26 Jesus tells us, “When the Comforter comes…he will testify regarding Me. In other words, the Holy Spirit will make Jesus and the things of God real to us. He will bring to remembrance the Word of God that we have hidden in our hearts. If we know Who lives in us and if we believe God’s Word, then no matter what or who we face in life, we will have no fear. The Greater One Who lives in us is greater than he who is in the world. Always remember, as a believer in Christ Jesus, Nothing is impossible
