It is a privilege and a blessing to join you during this transitional journey as St. David’s begins the process to search for a new rector.
Appropriately, we begin our walk together with the first Sunday of Advent. Advent marks the beginning of a new Church year with comfort and hope for the completion of God’s kingdom. We anticipate and prepare not only for the birth of Christ but we anxiously await Jesus’ promised return.
Today, as in the days of Isaiah we find ourselves in uncertain times. We cry out in fear and pain with the loss of loved ones as we near two years of a pandemic. We are on information overload, not sure what to believe through our news sources. Our families are divided over political differences. We struggle to make ends meet making sure we are able to afford the basic necessities. I’m sure we can add many more things to the list that trouble us. But listen to the words of Isaiah:
“The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.” (9:2)
Our walk begins with the light of the One who has shown us the path of love and compassion. We have been blessed with the goodness and grace of God. The light shines! And with that we are guided in our time together through the power of the Holy Spirit. Are you ready? Come, walk with me.
I look forward to meeting and worshiping with you this Sunday and in the weeks to come!
Your Servant in Christ,
Father Dave+
