Beginning Tuesday, Jan. 11, Father Dave will hold a Zoom Bible Study based on the lectionary. The hour-long study begins at 7 p.m.
What is the lectionary? The lectionary is a three year cycle of assigned Sunday Bible readings used by mainline Protestant denominations and the Roman Catholic community. The three years are designated by year A, B, and C. Beginning this Advent, we have entered Year C which is the year of Luke. A is Matthew and B is Mark. The Gospel of John is interspersed throughout the church year. Usually, the readings include: an Old Testament lesson, a Psalm, a reading from the NewTestament (usually an Epistle or letter) and then a reading from the Gospel.
Get a head start on what the upcoming Sunday lections (scripture readings) will be. Delve a little deeper into the meaning of each of the readings and a better understanding of the Sunday sermon.
Please contact Father Dave by Jan. 9 to get the Zoom link and the readings for the upcoming Sunday service. Email Father Dave at fr.dave@stdavidslansing.org to request the link.
