Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
My office is full of Lionel O Gauge trains. There are train parts scattered all over my desk. I work on mostly pre and post war engines. The green engine pictured here is a Lionel #152. Lionel made these particular engines from 1917 to 1927. They’re not worth very much even in great condition they run around $100. The one pictured is banged up and scratched. It didn’t run when I received it. I like working on them as it may require some rewiring, cleaning and perhaps a spare part that you can find online. I find it satisfying to get a 100-year-old engine running again. It took a little time to tinker around with it, but I got it working. The light works and the engine flies down the track! I think I’ll leave it the way it looks. Each of those scratches and dings indicates someone in the past played with this engine and now I’m part of this little engine’s history.
Without the proper parts, I wouldn’t be able to make the engine work. Paul talked about the parts of the body as the church. “There is one body, but it has many parts. But all its many parts make up one body. It is the same with Christ. We were all baptized by one Holy Spirit. And so we are formed into one body….” I Corinthians 12:12-13a
On Monday, September 19, St. David’s will be holding its first TEAM NIGHT at 6:30pm. Each of the team will be working on one of the many ministries involved in being the church. For us to be the church we need all the parts of the body to come together and work together as one. No one person can do all Education for St. David’s. Nor could one person from St. David’s bear the burden of reaching out to help the needy, hungry, homeless, lonely, et. We need you to make our ministry in Christ whole. Please join us. If you’re not sure where you might want to focus your energies, please contact either Rev. Carol or me, we’ll find a place in the team for you to be!
“You are the body of Christ. Each one of you is a part of it.” 1 Cor. 12:27
I hope we’ll see you there.
Your Servant in Christ,
Father Dave+
