Lenten Mid-Week Services

Beginning March 1 and the remaining Wednesdays in Lent and Holy Week, St. David’s will host a Communion Service at 6:00pm followed by a Soup/Bread and Cheese Supper at 6:30pm. This year’s presentation will be a video study on the book of Revelation. The series is called, “Breaking the Code – Understanding the Book of Revelation.”

The Book of Revelation contains passages of great beauty and comfort, as well as passages that strike the casual reader as bizarre, bewildering, and sometimes frightening. How are readers today to discern God’s message in this peculiar part of the Bible?

Breaking the Code Revised Edition provides a trustworthy guide to the rich symbolism of this important biblical book. Noted biblical scholar Bruce M. Metzger presents the fruits of solid scholarship in a non-academic style. This revised edition includes updates based on current biblical research, as well as additional teaching from author and respected New Testament scholar David deSilva.

Here is the schedule:

  • March 1 – “John’s Vision”
  • March 8 – “Letters to Churches”
  • March 15 – “God, the Lamb and Seven Seals”
  • March 22 – “The Dragon, the Beast and Seven Trumpets”
  • March 29 – “Babylon and Seven Bowls”
  • April 5 – “New Heaven and New Earth”

Members of Trinity, Grand Ledge will be joining us. The Rev. Gail Shafer and Father Dave will convene the discussion.

Participants will need to acquire the Breaking the Code, Revised Edition study book. Father Dave has a limited number of books available. The cost is $11.99. The book can also be ordered on-line.
