Power Outage at St. David’s

To the family of Christ at St.David’s,

On Thursday night, the state of Michigan was hit by a series of storms which resulted in thousands of power outages, St. David’s being no exception.

The church building remains without power, with the board of Water and Light predicting it’s return on Tuesday night. I have floated several options for service on Sunday – a candle lit service, service outdoors, etc. – but none of these options give our less stable congregants safe options for restroom use, and Michigan weather is infamous to plan around for a reason. (It’s supposed to be 50 degrees and overcast on Sunday morning.)

Therefore, I have determined for the best interest of all involved that the building will remain closed this Sunday, and that I will file away the sermon I wrote for another time. (Cést la vie!)

In place of Sunday service, I encourage you to pray a service of Morning Prayer, which begins on page 75 of your BCP. I will also be offering a 12:15 Mass on Wednesday in the St.Non’s chapel.

If neither of these options work for you, please email me at RevJoeKennedy@gmail.com and I will be more than happy to share the Eucharist with you in your home. We will reschedule our planned acolyte training for another date.

Asking for your continued grace in times of tough decision making,

Fr. Joe Kennedy
