Senior World

St. David’s Senior World Luncheon Program got its start in 1996 when a small group of women from St. David’s, led by Mrs. Peg Spitler, met with a few residents of the Senior World Housing Complex (now called Lansing Manor) for lunch and Bible Study. As the program grew larger, it shifted locations to the St. David’s Church facility–and it shifted it’s focus to include inspirational teaching, music, and prayer. From its small beginnings it has grown to draw between 50 and 60 persons (men and women) to its gatherings. Even though the phrase “Senior” is still used in its title, Senior World is for people of all ages.

The Senior World Luncheon Program meets on the second Thursday of the month from September to April. Along with folks from St. David’s, people come from Lansing Manor, Serenity Place, Elmwood Park, Sterling House of Delta Township, and other locations. Each person who attends is asked to bring a dollar or a dish to pass, while the church provides the main dishes. The church also provides free E-Tran transportation to those who come from the various housing facilities
